ROCK COUNTY — Three Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were injured Saturday while helping the Rock County Sheriff’s Office dispose of a stash of dynamite.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office requested the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Team assist in a response to the 10,000 block of Cheophas Road in the town of Newark near Beloit for a report of dynamite in a trailer on the property.
During the disposal of the dynamite, three deputies were injured, according to a news release from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
All three deputies were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Rock County Sheriff’s Office are actively conducting an investigation.
