JANESVILLE — Authorities made an arrest Wednesday in a drug investigation conducted by the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) and the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). 

Taiwan Edwards, 28, was taken into custody about 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of an E. Milwaukee Street convenience store after he was stopped by a Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) K9 Unit, according to a police news release.

As part of the investigation, 3 search warrants were served on 10-4-23 by SCU and DCI with the assistance of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force Officers, WSP K9 Unit and the Beloit Police Department Violent Crime Intervention Team (VCIT).  Seized during the search warrants was 57.9 ounces (1.62 kilograms) of cocaine, 4.5 pounds of marijuana, 2 assault rifles, 4 handguns and $75,000 cash.

Edwards is currently being held at the Rock County Jail on a Probation Hold as he is on Probation for prior drug offenses.  Edwards will be charged in the near future with several drug and firearm charges.
