JANESVILLE — Police say a suspect shot at his victim inside a Janesville residence early Sunday, then followed the victim to a nearby street and fired again.

In a Sunday morning news release, the Janesville Police Department said officers were sent shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday to a home on the 2000 block of Center Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Investigators say the suspect, a 30-year-old Janesville resident, fired multiple rounds from a handgun at the victim.

The victim then left the residence and was followed by the suspect to the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and South Chatham Street where additional shots were fired, police say.

As officers arrived at the scene, the suspect fled in his vehicle leading officers on a 14-mile pursuit throughout the city of Janesville.

Ultimately, the suspect’s vehicle was immobilized using a pursuit intervention technique and he was taken into custody on Ruger Ave. near the I-39 overpass.

The Janesville News Report is not identifying the suspect at this time until formal charges are filed in court and to protect the victim.
