JANESVILLE — U.S. Army veteran Butch U’Ren celebrated his 100th birthday Wednesday, and he received well wishes in a social media post from the V.A. hospital in Madison.
U’Ren and his wife, Kathleen, have been married for 74 years and currently live in Janesville.
The Fennimore, Wisconsin, native served four years during World War II in infantry where he took part in the liberation of Paris, receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.
He taught for more than 30 years in northern Illinois and was an elementary school principal in Cary, Illinois during his career as an educator.
