JANESVILLE — In recognition of Read Across America Day last Friday, staff at Janesville’s Wilson Elementary a variety of readers to the school to share some of their favorite stories with students.

Among those who visited were 2022 Parker High School graduate and current Northern Illinois University football player Abiathar Curry and 2015 Craig High School graduate and current City of Madison Police Department Officer Candace Enis.

Students were also treated to visits by members of the Janesville Fire Department, School District of Janesville Superintendent Mark Holzman, SDJ School Board Member Elizabeth Paull, SDJ Communications Director Patrick Gasper and many, many more.

Reading not only serves as an entertainment option for children but also improves cognitive development, improves language skills, fosters creativity, improves concentration, boosts imagination and prepares them for the next step academically.
