JANESVILLE — Bill Kennedy, known for his years of volunteerism and service to the community of Janesville, has died at age 74.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Schneider Funeral Directors on East Racine Street in Janesville, and again Tuesday, July 9, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt Olivet Mausoleum.

Kennedy owned and operated Rock Road Companies, a road building construction company, with his two brothers and most recently served as chairman.

He was an instrumental leader of the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association and Wisconsin Transportation Development Association, where he served as president for several terms. His involvement and leadership in the Wisconsin transportation industry continued throughout his career.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Kennedy served as chairman of Forward Janesville Board of Directors, Chair of Forward Janesville Foundation and was one of the founding partners of the Janesville Jets.

He also served as the co-chair of the HealthNet of Rock County capital campaign and served on the Agrace Foundation Board. Kennedy also served as president of the Janesville Country Club for four terms.

Kennedy was the Boys and Girls Club co-chairman of the capital campaign to build its current facility and most recently served as chair of the Boys and Girls Club Capital & Endowment campaign.

Kennedy has been married to his wife, Diane, for 52 years.
