JANESVILLE — The City of Janesville Housing Services Division has announced the relaunch of the Home Possible program, an initiative designed to make homeownership possible for first-time buyers.

This program provides financial support to help residents afford the down payment and closing costs on their new home, bringing the dream of owning a home within reach, according to a city News release.

Who Can Benefit: 

  • First-time homeowners ready to begin the home-buying process.

What the Program Offers: 

  • Home Possible Janesville provides a forgivable loan of up to $10,000 to assist with down payment and closing costs. To qualify for loan forgiveness, residents must remain in the home for at least five years.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • You must have an accepted offer on a home. 
  • The home’s purchase price cannot exceed $209,000. 
  • The home must be located within Janesville city limits and pass an approved inspection. 
  • Your household income must meet specific program criteria; find those requirements on the City website brochure.
