JANESIVILLE — Janesville’s KFC franchise is one of five in the area to announce it will unexpectedly close by the end of August.

EYM Chicken of Wisconsin, LLC informed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on Aug. 22, 2024 that it will permanently cease operations in Wisconsin due to what it called “the unforeseen business circumstance and not being able to reach a resolution with KFC.”

EYM said it started closing its restaurants starting Friday Aug. 18, 2024, and expects to close all 5 locations on or about Aug. 31, 2024.

The total number of employees being laid off is 81, according to the notice.

No employees at this facility are represented by a union.

EYM has franchise location in Janesville, Beloit, Reedsburg, Stoughton and Watertown.

In Janesville, six crew members, six shift managers and the general manager are expected to lose their jobs.
