JANESVILLE — After years of dedicated service, the Janesville Police Department is bidding farewell to K-9 Grand, a beloved member of the force.

Grand joined the department in November 2016 and quickly became an invaluable asset, excelling in narcotics detection, tracking suspects, and locating missing persons.

During his career, Grand participated in approximately 1,000 searches, leading to hundreds of arrests.

He also demonstrated exceptional bravery in apprehending suspects during critical tracks.
Grand’s handler, Officer Jason Bier, praised his partner’s dedication and teamwork.

In retirement, Grand will live with Bier and his family.

The department has selected a new handler and expects the newest K9 to be in service by spring 2025.

The Janesville Police Department’s K-9 unit is entirely funded by donations.
