JANESVILLE — A swearing-in ceremony was held Tuesday to add three new officers to the Janesville Police Department.
Officer Norman Bogdan, Officer Nathan Steffens and Officer John Zurick took their oaths to serve and protect our community.
According to a news release, Officer Norman Bogdan is a Janesville resident, having attended Craig High School. He furthered his education at North Central Institute in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Bogdan enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably until 2023. His experience includes working as a CrossFit trainer in New York and most recently as a delivery driver with Mid State Equipment in Janesville.
Officer Nathan Steffens hails from Solon, Iowa. He completed his high school education at Solon High School before attending Kirkwood Community College and later transferring to the University of Northern Iowa, where he graduated in 2023. His previous work experience includes roles as a customer service specialist in retail, as well as positions at Menards, Steffens Lawn Care, and Cedar Falls Public Safety.
Officer John Zurick comes from McHenry, Illinois. He attended McHenry High School and pursued his education at McHenry Community College and Dyersburg State Community College. Before joining the Janesville Police Department, Officer Zurick served as a fireman and paramedic in both Memphis, Tennessee, and Woodstock, Illinois.
