The Children’s Museum of Rock County will begin construction work on its new downtown Janesville building in the spring of 2025, the museum announced in November.

The CMRC expects construction of the museum to take 10 to 13 months to complete, with the goal of opening in 2026.

The CMRC has raised over $11.5 million to date, exceeding its $10 million Let’s PLAY Together capital campaign goal.

The capital campaign will remain open.

The money will be used to renovate the former Chase bank at 100 W. Milwaukee Street into a children’s museum. Plans include demolishing the former drive-thru addition and constructing a new addition while maintaining the historic anchor building, according to the news release.
