UNION TOWNSHIP — A woman is facing multiple charges after a 4-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries Sunday in a Rock County crash.

According to a news release, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville Police Department responded anout 4:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 14 and West Elmer Road in the Town of Union.

Investigators say a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman from Brooklyn, WI, was traveling southbound on Highway 14 and was driving too fast for conditions when she lost control on the icy road surface.

The vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man from Stoughton

The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but a 4-year-old child in her vehicle was not in proper safety restraints, according to authorities.

The child sustained life-threatening injuries due to the crash. Both the woman and child were transported to local hospitals.

The man in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.

The woman was arrested and could face charges of Second Degree Reckless Endangerment Causing Great Bodily Harm, Child Neglect Causing Great Bodily Harm, and Knowingly Operate While Suspended Causing Great Bodily Harm.
