JANESVILLE — Joining other Republicans around the country, 1st District Congressman Bryan Steil announced he will hold a telephone town hall rather than in-person event.

The telephone town hall is scheduled for 5 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2025. Sign up on Steil’s website HERE.

Some Republicans have opted to hold telephone town halls after GOP leaders earlier this month advised lawmakers to skip town halls that have been filled with protesters decrying President Donald Trump administration’s slashing of federal government, according to the Associated Press.

Republican lawmakers have at times found themselves at a loss to explain the cuts, led by billionaire Elon Musk’sDepartment of Government Efficiency, that are leaving federal workers suddenly out of jobs in communities across the country.

In Steil’s case, signing up for the town hall also authorizes the congressman’s office to contact attendees and send them information regarding their office, telephone meetings, upcoming events or other opportunities via live, automated or prerecorded calls, text messages or emails to the telephone number and email address entered.
