JANESVILLE — Construction begins Monday, March 31, 2025 on W. Court Street on the city’s near west side.
The project extends from Waveland Road to Washington Street, just before the 5 Points intersection, which also is undergoing a major reconstruction.
During construction, traffic control will be staged to maintain a single lane in each direction on W. Court Street.
The construction project is being administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The improvements include a 4-lane to 3-lane conversion with a two-way left turn lane and dedicated bike lanes, curb ramp updates, new pedestrian crossings with median refuge islands, upgrades to signalized intersection equipment, additional street lighting, spot curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement, water main replacement, and storm sewer and sanitary sewer structure rehabilitation.
However, there will be times when side roads approaching W. Court Street will be closed. Additionally, there will be temporary and isolated closures along W. Court Street to facilitate underground utility construction.
Construction is currently scheduled for completion in mid-October based on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
