JANESVILLE – In a world where mental health conversations are becoming more essential than ever, educator and master’s in special education, Ligia Nobrega Barbosa introduces “Little Monsters in My Mind,” a beautifully illustrated children’s book that helps kids and families understand intrusive thoughts and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in a way that is both accessible and empowering.

The author will hold a book signing from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Janesville Performing Arts Center.

With years of experience in education and learning disorders, Ligia brings a compassionate and insightful perspective to a topic that often feels overwhelming for both children and their caregivers.

Through engaging storytelling and relatable characters, Little Monsters in My Mind provides a safe space for young readers to explore their thoughts, learn that they are not alone, and discover helpful coping strategies.

“Children with OCD or intrusive thoughts often struggle to explain what’s happening inside their minds,” says Ligia in a news release. “This book gives them a voice and helps parents, teachers, and therapists support them with empathy and understanding.”

The book is designed not only for families but also for educators, therapists, and mental health professionals who want to introduce the concept of intrusive thoughts in a child-friendly way. With a growing need for resources that make mental health accessible to younger audiences, Little Monsters in My Mind is a timely and invaluable addition to this conversation.
