JANESVILLE — City crews are working on concrete pavement at the intersection of W. Milwaukee Street and Academy Street that buckled Sunday evening due to extreme temperatures.
As a result, W. Milwaukee Street is temporally closed from Academy Street to High Street.
Crews on scene say the pavement heaved more than a foot, and they’re excavating a strip of concrete to put in a temporary patch and reopen the road.
After that, they’ll figure out a permanent solution.
The buckle is near the Five Points intersection, which is currently closed for construction, so traffic impacts are minimal.
The city is currently coordinating the repair, and W. Milwaukee Street will be reopened once it is safe for the traveling public.
