JANESVILLE — A commercial fire was quickly extinguished Wednesday morning at an eastside Janesville church.
According to a news release, Janesville Fire Department units responded about 11:20 a.m. Oct. 15 to City First Church at 2618 Mt. Zion Ave. for a report of a commercial fire in the basement.
Upon arrival, JFD units observed light smoke emanating from the rear door.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, checked for extension, and conducted a thorough search of the building. After an investigation, the fire was deemed accidental and not suspicious.
JFD Paramedics evaluated one person from the church for smoke inhalation. They were not transported to the hospital. Nineteen firefighters responded to the incident.
The Janesville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Janesville Police Department and Alliant Energy.
