JANESVILLE — A proposal to demolish the now-closed Hardee’s along Humes Road near Woodman’s and build a new car wash is before Janesville’s Plan Commission Monday night.
Dean Larson of Larmun Properties LLC has submitted a request on behalf of contract purchaser Crew Carwash for a conditional use permit to construct a new 5,764 square foot drive-thru car wash facility with four-lane vehicle queuing and vacuum stations at 2328 Humes Road.
The property is located at the southwest corner of N. Lexington Drive and Humes Road. the site of the former Hardee’s.
Plans are for the current building being razed and replaced with a new automated car wash building orientated toward the USH 14 corridor adjoining the property to the north.
The Plan Commission meeting begins at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, in the City Hall Council Chambers, 18 North Jackson Street.
According to the memo, staff only has received one public comment regarding the project.
“I believe we already have several carwashes in short proximity of this location. It doesn’t
make sense to put another carwash here. Especially with Woodman’s building the new
truck stop which is going to have a bigger carwash as well with Mr. Splash next to it and
others down the street in both ways. It would be setting up this new business for failure.
The market is just too saturated in this area.” read the letter.
