ROCK COUNTY — A driver died Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 east of Janesville.

According to a news release, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, along with other emergency resources, responded to the scene on East Highway 14 near South Carvers Rock Road at approximately 6:09 a.m.

Investigators say the man who was driving, who was the sole occupant of a Ford Fusion, was traveling west when he lost control of his vehicle. The Fusion crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Avalanche.

The Avalanche was operated by a 64-year-old man from Janesville. Despite life-saving measures administered at the crash site, the driver of the Ford Fusion died at the scene.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the name of the deceased at a later time.

Authorities stated that no criminal activity is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
