JANESVILLE — Three fires in less than 24 hours in addition to several other calls for service kept Janesville firefighters busy on the 4th of July.

According to a social media post from Janesville Firefighters Local 580, A-shift responded to a structure fire in the early morning that caused significant damage.

Later that evening, C-shift handled two more fires that occurred within a short time of each other.

One was a dumpster that caught fire inside a trash/recycling room located at a large apartment complex.

The other was a fully involved semi trailer located in a private lot adjacent to the railroad tracks.

The private lot was on the other side of a tree line, which made it a little challenging to access.

Dispatch also had to shut down the railroad so crews could pull attack lines across the tracks to reach the fire. The tower provided aerial lighting to the fire area while crews did overhaul.

Exact causes of these fires is still under investigation and no injuries were reported, according to the news release.
