JANESVILLE — Family and friends are rallying around a Janesville family who lost their home Monday in a fire.

Jim and Kyoko, along with their three children, Eleanor, Colin, and Miles, lost nearly everything in the fire.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family with immediate needs like housing, clothing and personal essentials.

Janesville Fire units were called out at 10:35 a.m. Monday to their home in the 400 block of Forest Park Boulevard.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire throughout the home. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to the news release.

The cause was determined to be accidental in nature.

According to the GoFundMe page, Jim Jones is a second-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary. Kyoko, a paraprofessional at Kennedy Elementary, also teaches Zumba classes at the YMCA and works part-time at Prent.

The children are in elementary, middle and high school.

The fire left them without a home, and they’ve lost nearly all of their belongings. Tragically, the family also lost three beloved pets in the fire.
