JANESVILLE – Two people had to find a temporary place to stay after an attic fire Friday in their Janesville home.

According to a news release, Janesville Fire Department units responded about 1:45 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of S. Wisconsin Street near the Courthouse Hill area for report of a residential fire.

When they arrived, fire crews found smoke and fire showing from the attic of a single-family home.

Damage was largely contained the attic. Two residents have been displaced.

Thirty-one firefighters responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Janesville Fire Department was assisted by Footville Fire Department, Beloit Fire Department, Lakeside Fire Department, Janesville Police Department and Alliant Energy.
