JANESVILLE — Police are asking people to avoid the area of the Janesville Schools Outdoor Lab on County Highway A for a law enforcement investigation.
According to social media posts, several Janesville schools had field trips at the outdoor lab. Students have reportedly gotten back on their buses safely and are returning to their schools.
In a note sent to parents, the School District of Janesville said some students visiting the Janesville Schools Outdoor Laboratory had their field trip cut short due to Janesville Police Department activity in the area.
The district said police were conducting a welfare check, and while police did not believe anyone was in immediate danger, the decision was made to end the field trip early and return all students quickly and safely back to school, according to the district.
All students/staff who were out at JSOL have been safely returned to their schools. All afternoon trips to JSOL have been canceled.
