JANESVILLE – Everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries in an overnight fire in Janesville.

According to a news release, the Janesville Fire Department was sent about 10:30 p.m. Monday to the 200 Block of N. Washington Street for a report of a fire.

When the first engine arrived, firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the home.

Crews received a report that a resident was still inside the building, however after a search, firefighters found that everyone had gotten out safely.

Additional Fire and EMS units were requested to the scene. and the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.

16 firefighters responded to the scene.

The JFD was assisted by the Janesville Police Department and Alliant Energy.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Janesville Fire Department.
