JANESVILLE — The Janesville Police Department on Tuesday announced the passing of retired K-9 Grand.
According to a news release, Grand faithfully served the Janesville community from 2016 until his retirement in 2024. He died on Feb. 23.
He was assigned to Officer Jason Bier throughout his career. Following his retirement, Grand spent the remainder of his life relaxing and enjoying time at home with Bier and his family.
During his years of service, Grand was a pivotal component in numerous arrests, narcotics seizures, and critical searches, according to the department.
In a social media post, the department extended its gratitude to the veterinarians and staff at Janesville Animal Medical Center for the exceptional care they provided to Grand throughout both his active duty and retirement.
The Janesville Police Department says its K-9 program would not be possible without the continued support of the community and local businesses. Their generosity and partnership play a vital role in maintaining and sustaining the program.
