JANESVILLE — About 150 people braved 10-degree weather in downtown Janesville Wednesday to attend a candlelight vigil for the two Minneapolis residents killed in the past three weeks by federal forces.

Speakers included state Rep. Ann Roe, D-Janesville, state Sen. Mark Spreitzer, D-Beloit; the Revs. Neil Deupree and Collette Broady Grund; and Nate Feine of the Rock County Democrats.

The vigil comes after VA nurse Alex Pretti, a Green Bay Preble High School graduate, was shot and killed Jan. 24 by federal agents after agents confronted Pretti while he was recording their activities.

His death follows the killing of Renee Good on Jan. 7 who was in her car observing federal agents.

Organizers of the Janesville vigil say, “peaceful protests of immigration officials’ abductions of innocents and assaults on people exercising their constitutional rights are welcome.”
