TOWN OF CLINTON.— A home just south of Clinton was declared a total loss following a wind-whipped fire that broke out Friday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Clinton Fire Protection District, crews responded to a reported chimney fire to a home on Tighe Riad at 2:26 p.m. When firefighters arrived at 2:35 p.m., they discovered the fire had extended into the basement, first floor and west side of the home.

Due to heavy winds and a lack of nearby fire hydrants, responders requested additional assistance through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). The fire was brought under control at 4:36 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Clinton Fire Protection District acknowledged the assistance of several fire and EMS agencies, the Clinton Police Department, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, and Rock County dispatchers.
