JANESVILLE — A suspicious backpack belonging to a disorderly conduct suspect led the the evacuation of a Janesville store Tuesday.

However after examing the backpack, police say it contained no bomb.

The incident began when Janesville Police and Fire responded to a disorderly conduct call and possible bomb threat shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday Blain’s Farm and Fleet.

The first officers on scene immediately identified and took a subject into custody, according to a news release made available Wednesday.

That’s when officers located a suspicious backpack in the store belonging to the suspect.

The store and parking lot were evacuated with cooperation from Farm and Fleet management team.

The backpack was removed from the store by the Dane County Bomb Squad.

The backpack did not contain any bomb making materials or explosives, according to a news release from police.

At this time charges are being referred to the Rock County District Attorney’s Office. An estimated loss of revenue from the threat has not been determined at this time.
