JANESVILLE — As the Salvation Army Rock County continues to support those affected by last month’s tornado, they are now extending aid to residents impacted by the fire Monday at Surrey Ridge Apartments on Janesville’s east side.

To receive assistance, provide proof of residency.

Distribution hours are Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional pickups available upon request.

The fire started shortly before 2 p.m., and flames were visible shooting through the roof of the middle building of the complex, which is now destroyed.

Residents of all 23 units have been displaced.

One women told the Janesville News Report that she had just signed a lease, but luckily had only moved a few items in before the fire.

She says she has someone to stay with temporarily..

Dozens of vehicles from multiple departments assisted at the scene.

Red Cross disaster-trained volunteers are currently assisting residents that have been displaced by the fire. if you need assistance, please call 1-800-RED CROSS.
