JANESVILLE — No one was injured early Friday following a kitchen fire in the 800 block of N. Washington Street in Janesville.

The Janesville Fire Department responded at 2:17 a.m. Friday for a report of structure fire, according to a news release.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the side entry door of the home.

A fire was found within the kitchen area.

Initial crews immediately began fire suppression efforts while additional JFD units conducted a thorough search of the property.

The fire was successfully extinguished and contained to the kitchen.

The occupants of the home had safely gotten out before emergency personnel arrived.

No injuries were reported.

The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Janesville Police Department provided assistance at the scene.
