JANESVILLE – The owner was able to get out safely Sunday after a fire began in her southside Janesville home.

According to a news release, The Janesville Fire Department responded about 7:45 p.m. Sunday to the 1400 block of Starling Lane for a report of a residential fire.

When they arrived, Janesville Fire Department units found smoke and fire venting from the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished by the first arriving company and was contained to the attic.

The homeowner was home at the time of the fire and exited her residence before JFD arrival.

21 firefighters reported to the scene. The Janesville Fire Department was assisted by the Janesville Police Department and Alliant Energy.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Janesville Fire Department.
