JANESVILLE – A house fire was quickly put Tuesday evening and no one was injured on Janesville’s near west side.

According to a news release, the Janesville Fire Department was was called out about 7 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 Block of Chatham Street for a report of a residential fire.

When they arrived, Janesville Fire units found smoke coming from the back of the home.

The fire was quickly put out and the home was searched for residents, but fire crews found they had gotten out safely.

Twenty-two firefighters reported to the scene.

The Janesville Fire Department was assisted by Lakeside Fire Department, Janesville Police Department, and Alliant Energy.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Janesville Fire Department.
