JANESVILLE — A local group of concerned citizens has organized a candlelight vigil for Wednesday in reaction to a second death at the hands of federal officers in Minnesota.

The vigil is set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of Rep. Bryan Steil’s office, 20 S. Main St. in Janesville.

Speakers will include state Rep. Ann Roe, D-Janesville; the revs. Neil Deupree and Collette Broady Grund; and Nate Feine of the Rock County Democrats.

The vigil comes after VA nurse Alex Pretti, a Green Bay Prebble High School graduate, was shot and killed Jan. 24 by federal agents after agents confronted Pretti while he was recording their activities.

His death follows the killing of Renee Good on Jan. 7 who was in her car observing federal agents.

Organizers of the Janesville vigil say, “peaceful protests of immigration officials’ abductions of innocents and assaults on people exercising their constitutional rights are welcome.”
