JANESVILLE — Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in an industrial accident involving a steam explosion in Janesville.
The Janesville Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Innovation Drive at 3:49 p.m. following reports of burn victims at the scene.
According to a news release, the explosion was caused by steam over-pressurization.
One patient was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, while a second patient was flown by UW MedFlight to the UW Burn Center for treatment.
The Janesville Fire Department received on-scene assistance from a Mercy MD-1 physician.
Firefighters conducted an investigation of the area and determined that no additional hazards remained at the facility.
