ROCK COUNTY — A driver has died in an early morning crash east of Janesville that closed Highway 14 for hours.
According to a news release, the responded at 2:18 a.m. Friday to a single-vehicle traffic crash on E. Highway 14 near Emerald Grove.
Investigators say a man driving a Ford Escape was traveling east on E. Highway 14 near S. Scharine Road.
The driver, who also was the sole occupant of the vehicle, lost control and collided with the ditch embankment.The driver was ejected from thevehicle during the collision.
Despite life saving measures provided on scene, the driver of the Ford Escape died on scene.
The name of the deceased will later be released by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing, but at this time nothing criminal is suspected, officials said.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office along with Janesville Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Janesville Police Department, Rock County Highway Department responded.
