JANESVILLE — Fire crews responded to a residential fire Monday afternoon that damaged both units of a Janesville duplex.

The fire broke out about 4:35 p.m. in the area of the 600 block of Tudor Drive.

According to a news release, when crews arrived, they found moderate smoke and fire on the exterior of the building. The fire eventually extended into the attic space of both units.

While some firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, other crews searched the interior of the building for occupants, but no injuries to bystanders or fire personnel were reported during the incident.

A total of 26 firefighters responded to the scene.

The Janesville Police Department, Lakeside Fire Department and Alliant Energy assisted the Janesville Fire Department at the scene.
