JANESVILLE — The downtown Janesville YMCA will be expanding after agreeing to purchase the soon-to-be-vacant Boys & Girls Club space next door.

The YMCA of Northern Rock County announced the purchase Tuesday as the Boys & Girls Club of Janesville.prepares to move into its new facility later this year.

This exciting next step helps both organizations grow—and for the Y, it means even more momentum behind its 135 & Beyond vision as they create expanded spaces, new opportunities and an even stronger future for the community, according to a news release.

The new Boys & Girls Club on Jackson Street will more than triple the organization’s daily capacity, allowing them to serve over 200 youth with specialized classrooms, a dedicated teen center and a commercial kitchen capable of providing over 82,000 meals annually.

The facility is expected to open in the fall.
