JANESVILLE — The owner of a hemp business with locations in Janesville, Beloit and Monroe has been arrested and is accused of selling illegal THC products. 

According to a news release, the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit began an investigation in June into the business, Hemp 1848. 

During the investigation, police allegede that Hemp 1848 was selling illegal THC products. 

As a result of the investigation, search warrants were served in Janesville at 117 E. Milwaukee St., 30 S. Main St. and 908 Sharon Rd. 

Search warrants were also served at the Hemp 1848 stores in Edgerton, Beloit and Monroe.

Evidence was seized to support the investigation. 

Jerry McCoy, owner of Hemp 1848, faces possible charges of Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place and Manufacturing/Distributing THC.  

Further charges from today’s warrants will follow.  McCoy was held at the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance. 

The Janesville Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Beloit Police Department, Monroe Police Department, and the DEA Task Force.
