JANESVILLE — The Children’s Museum of Rock County now has its official name.

Now known as the Bysted Family WonderVault, the museum received its new name from the Bysted family, whose generosity and commitment have been credited with playing an important role in bringing it to life.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this museum a reality,” Marlene Bysted was quoted in a news release as saying. “As we officially give it the name Bysted Family WonderVault, we hope it will be a place filled with laughter, curiosity, knowledge, and wonder.”

The Bysted family officially revealed the new name on the museum grounds Friday alongside their grandchildren, who all took part in the reveal.

“Bringing a children’s museum to Rock County has been a shared vision, one made possible by the dedication and generosity of many,” said Kent Anderson, Executive Director of the Bysted Family WonderVault. “We’re grateful to the Bysted family for giving us a name that honors this building’s history as a bank while capturing our vision for a future filled with wonder, exploration, and play.”

The Bysted Family WonderVault is preparing to open its doors later this fall. The museum is currently completing building construction and preparing for exhibit installation. As these final pieces come together, the museum team looks forward to welcoming families into a space designed to spark imagination, encourage exploration, and create opportunities for children to learn through play.
