JANESVILLE — In recognition of the start of a new school year, Gov. Tony Evers visited Craig High School today to tour classrooms, speak with students, and highlight the dedication of local educators.
During his visit, Governor Evers toured three dynamic learning environments across the school:
- Dayna Clark’s Advanced Placement Calculus BC Class: Evers joined students in a collaborative “thinking classroom” environment as they worked in groups to evaluate mathematical limits. Ms. Clark was recently named a School District of Janesville Teacher of the Year.
- Gretchen Kamps’ Introduction to Agriculture Class: Held in the school’s new state-of-the-art greenhouse facility, the governor observed students examining poinsettias, studying aquaponics, and using microscopes. The visit included a student-led tour by members of the Craig High School FFA chapter.
- Shelly Learned’s Forensic Science I Class: Students demonstrated hands-on forensic techniques, learning how to collect visual evidence, make scientific observations at mock crime scenes, and analyze factors that influence memory recall.
“We were proud to have Governor Evers visit Craig High School today and see our students and teachers in action,” Principal Dr. Alison Bjoin said the following of the visit.
“From advanced math to hands-on agricultural and forensic science, today highlighted the great learning happening across our school every day. We’re grateful for our dedicated staff, our hardworking students, and the strong community support behind Craig.”
