JANESVILLE — One person was shot and killed and two others were injured during an early morning incident in Janesville.
Janesville police received a 911 call about 12:30 a.m. Sunday about a disturbance in the 100 block of South Academy.
Before officers arrived on scene, the call was upgraded to a shots fired.
When they arrived; police discovered three victims and began to secure the scene and render aid.
All victims were transported to area medical facilities.
One victim was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound. The other two victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police currently believe that the suspects and victims were known to each other and that this is an isolated incident.
This is an ongoing investigation in its early stages. Police say no further details are being released to protect the integrity of the investigation, to confirm the accuracy of preliminary information and to allow those impacted to grieve.
Further release of details will be coordinated between the Janesville Police Department, Rock County District Attorney’s Office and Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.
