JANESVILLE, Wis. – A swiftwater rescue training exercise for Janesville firefighters quickly turned into the real thing Monday downtown.
According to a news release, Janesville Fire Department personnel were conducting swiftwater rescue training Monday afternoon on the Rock River just downstream of the Center Avenue bridge when they noticed a person floating down the river.
The person did not respond when firefighters shouted to them.
Rescue swimmers were immediately deployed and were able to bring the person to shore.
The female patient was transported by Janesville Fire Department paramedics to Mercy Hospital for further evaluation.
Her condition was not released.
