JANESVILLE – A Janesville garage sustained roughly $80,000 in damage Sunday during a garage fire in Janesville.

According to a news release, the Janesville Fire Department responded 10:45 a.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of Mole Ave. for a report of a garage fire.

When they arrived, Janesville Fire Department units found a fully involved fire in a detached garage that was 15 feet away from the residence.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the first-arriving engine, preventing it from spreading into the residence.

A vehicle inside the garage was removed by KB Towing & Recovery.

The homeowner was present at the time of the fire.

17 firefighters reported to the scene. There were no injuries.

The Janesville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Janesville Police Department, KB Towing & Recovery, and Alliant Energy.

The contributing factor to the fire was a lawn mower, according to the news release.
