JANESVILLE – Everyone got out safely following a kitchen fire Monday morning in Janesville, but the Red Cross was assisting the family.
According to a news release, the Janesville Fire Department responded at 11:19 a.m. Monday to the 2200 block of W. Wall St. for report of a stove fire.
When they arrived, firefighters found smoke visible from the exterior of the building.
Firefighters ran a hoseline into the building to extinguish a fire in the kitchen.
The building was searched to see if anyone was inside, but all residents had gotten out on their own. No injuries were reported.
Three engine companies, one ladder company, two ambulances and seventeen firefighters responded to this incident.
The Janesville Police Department assisted with scene control, Alliant Energy assisted with controlling utilities, and the Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, related to unattended cooking.
The Janesville Fire Department would like to remind everyone to maintain working smoke detectors and to never leave cooking unattended.
