JANESVILLE — A 22-year-old man sought medical treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Tuesday after a shooting in Janesville.

Police were called to Mercy Hospital around 6:15 p.m. to meet with the victim and begin an investigation into the incident.

According to a news release, officers determined the shooting took place inside a home at 214 W. Van Buren St.

Police later served a search warrant at the residence to collect evidence related to the case.

According to the Janesville Police Department, the investigation is ongoing and a suspect has not yet been identified.

However, based on interviews conducted by investigators, the suspect is believed to be known to the victim.

Police also noted the shooting may not have been intentional.
