JANESVILLE — Two of the three workers injured in an industrial accident last week at NaturPak in Janesville have died, the company confirmed Wednesday.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of two of our team members,” the company said in a statement. “We have extended our heartfelt condolences to the families and have offered our support during this difficult time.
“We remain focused on providing our employees with the resources they need to navigate this period, including onsite counseling services.”
According to a news release at the time, two workers were Medflighted to a Madison hospital burn center March 18 following the accident that also injured a third worker.
The third patient was transported by JFD Ambulance to Mercy Trauma Center in Janesville.
Fire crews assessed the affected equipment, damaged by an over-pressurization accident, and isolated it within the facility.
Emergency crews responded to a similar incident Feb. 11 at the same location.
The company says they have fully cooperated with the Janesville Fire Marshal who responded to the accidents and to the OSHA inspector who was on-site within an hour of the accident and made subsequent visits to the plant to inspect the equipment and interview employees.
The say they will continue to cooperate with OSHA’s investigation.
