La PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP — An 80-year-old passenger died Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash just south of Janesville.

According to a news release, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office responded about 1 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of County G and E. Highway 11 just south of Janesville for a two-vehicle crash with one person pinned inside the vehicle.

The Janesville Police Department, Town of Turtle Police Department, Town of Beloit Police Department and the Janesville Fire Department also responded.

Investigators say a vehicle, driven by an 48-year-old Janesville man, was traveling northbound on G and attempted to turn westbound onto Highway 11.

A truck, driven by a 32-year-old Beloit man, was traveling south on Beloit Avenue and entered the intersection colliding with the vehicle on the passenger side, authorities say.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 80-year-old man from San Mateo, CA, was transported to Mercy Hospital after being extricated from the vehicle and later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team assisted with the incident.
