JANESVILLE — A Saturday morning apartment fire on Janesville’s east side displaced multiple residents and sent one to the hospital.
According to a news release, the Janesville Fire Department responded to a report of an apartment fire in the 1300 block of Lamarie Lane at 8:16 a.m.
When they arrived, fire crews extinguished the fire on the second floor and checked for extension to other units. Crews searched for occupants in moderate heat and smoke conditions, but all residents had evacuated before the fire units arrived.
One resident was transported for further medical evaluation after sustaining minor smoke inhalation injuries.
All residents of the building were displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
Firefighters controlled the flames in under 10 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Janesville Police Department, Alliant Energy, Janesville Transit, and the Lakeside Fire Department assisted at the scene.
