JANESVILLE — Two Janesville parents have been arrested following the death of their child in a bathtub earlier this month, authorities say.
According to a news release from the Rock County sheriff, Rebecca A. Ambrose, 27, and Jason H. Christianson, 26, were arrested Sunday, June 28, and are being held at the Rock County Jail.
Rock County Sheriff’s deputies originally responded to a call on June 13 regarding a child who was not breathing and had possibly drowned.
Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures and transported the child to a local hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation by the detective bureau, officials found probable cause to arrest the parents.
Ambrose faces one count of child neglect causing death and two counts of child neglect involving a child under 6 years of age.
Christianson faces two counts of child neglect involving a child under 6 years of age.
Formal charges are expected to be filed when the pair appear in jail court on Monday, June 29, at 3 p.m.
