JANESVILLE — Organized each year by the Janesville Patriotic Society, the annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony take place in memory of the men and women who gave their lives in service to the country.
Marching in the parade will be members of Parker and Craig high school bands, various veterans units, and members of the National Guard.
The parade route runs down West Milwaukee Street then north on Main Street, with stops at the Doughboy statue and on the Rock River bridge to place wreaths and present rifle salutes.
It ends at Veterans Plaza in Traxler Park with a Memorial Day Ceremony.
The parade begins at 11 a.m., May 25, 2026.
Memorial Day honors military members who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, particularly those who lost their lives in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in combat.
In contrast, Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, living or dead, who served honorably during war or peacetime.
